We are very happy to welcome Mira Castellane to Tidewell Labs as our first developer advocate.
Mira has spent the last few years on the other side of the fence: writing SDK documentation and running integration workshops for freight and logistics software, and answering the questions that documentation forgot. She has explained cargo manifests to web developers and web APIs to cargo planners, which is exactly the translation job we need.
At Tidewell Labs she will look after three things:
- The docs. Our API documentation grew up alongside the product, one port at a time. Mira is rebuilding it around real tasks, such as importing a week of port calls or pushing an ETA from Tidewell Route into a berth plan.
- Example integrations. Small, readable examples for the systems our ports already run: port community systems, agency spreadsheets and AIS feeds.
- Talks and workshops. Ports learn from other ports. Mira will be out at meetups and industry events explaining how we plan berths, including the parts that did not work the first time.
I have always liked the moment when a planner stops fighting the tool and starts trusting it. I want to help more small ports get there.
Her first talk is already booked: Scheduling 400 berths with a constraint solver, at this month’s ops-research meetup. We will post the slides here afterwards.
